Some Dogs and their Goats

Our dogs are always on the lookout. Here pictured is Buck (in black),  Rocky (in white) and Regal (in passing). Later in the walk on the way home we passed by a neighbor's barking dogs. Normally they would simply keep between the goats and dogs, but one of the those dogs wants to make friends (and Zuli is friends with everyone except bad dogs and coyotes). Yet the boys maintained their safety perimeter and chased the dogs home keeping them away until the herd was safely past. 

Kids join mob on Range

It's that time of year again. Kids on the ground are going out with the herd and learning to eat vegetation. And to negotiate the terrain, which around here involves steep hills, sheer cliffs and a maze of arroyos. Coyotes are on the lookout for the left behinds- but the Maremmas and the Australian Shepherds are likewise on the watch for them. And you don't want to upset either goat-loyal protectors.
